Silverfish Treatment

Silverfish are often noticed when a bathroom, kitchen, utility space or other quiet area is entered after dark. Repeated sightings can indicate that the insects are using cracks, edges or hidden spaces nearby. J Alvey Pest Control provides professional silverfish treatment throughout our North West operating area. We assess which rooms are affected and agree the treatment scope before attendance. Our family business was established in 1979 and is BPCA accredited.

When to arrange treatment

One occasional insect may not show the full extent of activity. It is worth asking for advice when silverfish are seen repeatedly, appear in several rooms or are found around stored paper, floor edges and concealed spaces. Note the rooms, time of day and approximate number seen. A clear photograph can help if there is any doubt about identification.

Silverfish are associated with sheltered areas and can be more noticeable where moisture is present. A pest treatment deals with the activity in the agreed rooms; it does not replace repairs where a leak, condensation or another property issue needs separate attention.

How silverfish treatment works

We inspect the accessible areas and confirm how many rooms need treatment. A professional insecticide may be applied to suitable harbourage and travel areas based on the assessment. We will explain which surfaces and spaces are included, what activity may continue for a period afterwards and whether any further action is likely to be needed.

Practical steps can support the treatment. These may include addressing a known moisture source and reducing undisturbed clutter around the affected area, but we will keep the advice relevant to what is actually found rather than giving a generic list.

Preparation and safety

Clear reasonable access to floor edges, cupboards or the other areas where silverfish have been seen, without moving heavy fixtures unsafely. Tell us about children, pets, vulnerable occupants and any sensitive materials. Residents and pets may need to remain outside treated rooms until the applied product is dry. Follow the technician’s instructions for cleaning and re-entry, and refer to our pest treatment safety information for general precautions.

Price and booking

The current online price is £60 for attendance, plus £10 for each room treated. List every room where activity has been seen so the scope can be confirmed before the visit. If the evidence points to a different insect, we will advise on the appropriate service. Requested appointment times are reviewed against the route before confirmation.

Silverfish treatment FAQs

Will treatment fix a damp or condensation problem?

No. Pest treatment and property repairs are separate. We can point out relevant conditions we observe, but a leak, ventilation issue or building defect needs the appropriate repair.

Do you charge for every room in the property?

The additional charge relates to rooms that need treatment. Give us an accurate list of sightings so we can confirm the scope rather than automatically including the whole property.

What if I have found a beetle instead?

Use our beetle control page, or contact us with a photograph or description if you are unsure.
