This notice explains how Alvey Group Ltd, trading as J Alvey Pest Control, uses personal information when you visit this website, contact us, request a quotation or book pest-control work.
Who is responsible for your information
Alvey Group Ltd is registered in England and Wales under company number 14009500. Our registered office is The Old Docks House, 90 Watery Lane, Preston, Lancashire PR2 1AU.
You can contact us at info@jalveypestcontrol.co.uk, through our contact form, or by calling the local number shown at the top of the website.
Information we collect
Depending on how you contact or book us, we may collect:
- your name, email address, telephone number and service address;
- the pest problem, rooms or land affected, photographs and relevant access or safety details;
- appointment requests, quotations, service records, messages and follow-up correspondence;
- business details such as the organisation, site contacts, operating hours and reporting requirements;
- transaction and payment references; and
- technical information generated when the website is used, such as IP address, browser information, cookies and basic analytics data.
Please only send information that is relevant to the enquiry or to carrying out the visit safely.
How and why we use it
We use personal information to:
- answer questions, identify the likely service and prepare a quotation;
- arrange, confirm and carry out appointments;
- keep treatment, safety, payment and customer-service records;
- manage commercial programmes and communicate with nominated site contacts;
- protect our customers, staff, business and website from misuse or fraud; and
- meet tax, accounting, insurance and other legal obligations.
The main legal bases are taking steps at your request before a contract, performing a contract, complying with legal obligations and our legitimate interests in running and protecting the business and responding to customers. Where consent is the appropriate basis, you can withdraw it at any time.
Sending an enquiry does not add you to a general marketing list. If we introduce optional marketing, it will use a separate choice.
Bookings and payments
Online booking and payment services are provided through Square. Information entered on Square’s pages is handled under Square’s own privacy arrangements. We receive the booking, contact, service and transaction details needed to manage the appointment, but we do not normally receive your full card details.
Who we share information with
We only share information where it is needed for the purposes above. Recipients may include:
- our staff and technicians who need the details to respond or attend;
- Square for booking and payment processing;
- website hosting, email, security, backup and IT service providers;
- Google services used for website analytics, maps, business information and review displays; and
- professional advisers, insurers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies or courts where this is required or reasonably necessary.
Some technology providers may process information outside the UK. Where this applies, we rely on the safeguards used by the provider and applicable data-protection law.
How long we keep information
We keep information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the enquiry, service, follow-up, safety, dispute, insurance, accounting or legal purpose involved. The period therefore varies by record. Enquiries that do not lead to work are not kept indefinitely; service, invoice and transaction records may need to be retained for longer to meet legal and business-record requirements.
Cookies and website services
The website uses cookies and similar technology for essential operation, security and performance. It may also use analytics and third-party services such as Google and embedded booking or review features. Those providers may receive technical information when their services load.
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies or third-party content may affect parts of the website or booking service.
Your data-protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to ask for access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction, transfer, or to object to certain uses. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent. These rights are not absolute in every situation because legal or record-keeping duties may still apply.
Contact us using the details above if you want to exercise a right or ask how your information has been used. We may need to confirm your identity before providing personal information.
Complaints
Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve a concern. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK’s data-protection regulator. Visit ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint for current guidance.
