Rodent activity can affect stock, property, staff confidence and the reputation of a business. J Alvey Pest Control provides commercial rat and mouse investigation and treatment across our North West operating area. We support one-off reactive work as well as planned prevention for sites that need continuing oversight. Our family business was established in 1979 and is a BPCA member.
When a commercial site needs action
Call when staff report a sighting, droppings, gnaw marks, damaged stock, scratching sounds or activity around bins, service yards and delivery areas. Record where and when the evidence was found and avoid cleaning away every sign before it can be assessed, unless hygiene or safety makes immediate cleaning necessary.
Early information helps us plan the visit. Include the type of premises, opening hours, affected areas, site-contact details and any access or induction requirements. For food premises, keep potentially affected food or packaging isolated in line with your own food-safety procedure.
How commercial rodent control works
We investigate the activity area and look for likely routes, harbourage, food sources and entry points. Treatment is chosen for the site and may include traps, professional baiting and practical prevention or proofing recommendations. We will explain what has been placed, the precautions required and the follow-up that the evidence supports.
As a BPCA member, our commercial approach includes advice on prevention, treatment reporting and risk- and COSHH-led working to protect staff, customers and the public. A reactive visit deals with the immediate instruction; a wider monitoring programme, scheduled inspections or extensive proofing is agreed separately through our Priority Prevention service.
Access, preparation and safety
Nominate a site contact who knows where the evidence has been found. Arrange access to relevant stores, plant areas, service yards, ceiling or loft hatches and locked spaces where this can be done safely. Tell us about food production, vulnerable occupants, pets, public areas and times when treatment cannot take place. Staff should not move traps or bait stations after placement. Our treatment safety page provides general product information; the site-specific instructions take priority.
Price and booking
The current Square price for a commercial rodent investigation and treatment visit is £125 per visit. This is a reactive visit price, not a quotation for an ongoing contract, multi-site programme, repairs or proofing work. Add the activity areas, contact details and access instructions when requesting the appointment. The requested time is reviewed against the route before confirmation.
Commercial rodent control FAQs
Do you offer regular pest-control contracts?
Yes. Scheduled inspections, monitoring, reporting and prevention support can be proposed after we understand the premises and risks. Contact us for a site-specific quotation.
Can you attend a food business?
Yes. Our separate food-business pest-control service explains the preventative and reporting support available for food sites.
Does the visit include building repairs?
Not automatically. We provide practical proofing recommendations and will make clear whether any repair or additional work falls outside the visit price.
