Food-Business Pest Control

Pest prevention is part of protecting food, customers, staff and the reputation of a food business. J Alvey Pest Control provides Priority Prevention and reactive support for cafés, restaurants, takeaways, hospitality sites, retailers and other food premises across the North West. We are a family-run business established in 1979 and a BPCA member.

When to contact us

Arrange help if a pest is seen, monitoring shows new activity, packaging or stock is damaged, droppings are found, or staff report recurring insects. You can also ask us to review a site before an obvious infestation develops. Waiting for a customer or inspector to find the evidence can turn a manageable issue into a much more disruptive one.

Tell us the type of food operation, affected areas, trading hours, deliveries and any inspection or audit date that is relevant. Keep suspected food or packaging isolated in line with your own food-safety system and record where the evidence was found.

Priority Prevention for food premises

We start by understanding the site and the way it operates. Depending on the instruction, our work can include inspections, monitoring, targeted treatment, pest-prevention advice and reporting that records the work carried out. We consider access routes, storage, waste, structure and the operational conditions that could support activity.

Our commercial service is designed to support due diligence and food-hygiene standards. As a BPCA member, we follow industry codes of best practice and use risk and COSHH assessments to help protect staff, customers and the public. Pest control is one part of food-safety management; it cannot guarantee a particular food hygiene rating, and the business remains responsible for its wider hygiene, structure, management and records.

Preparing for a useful site visit

Nominate a manager or responsible person who can explain the concern and provide access to stores, kitchens, waste areas, service yards, plant spaces and records relevant to the visit. Tell us about production times, allergen or hygiene controls, locked areas and any induction requirement. Do not allow staff to move monitoring or treatment equipment after placement. We will explain precautions and any action required from the business.

Pricing and next steps

Food-business pest control is quoted according to the premises, pests, frequency, access, reporting needs and whether the work is reactive or planned. There is no universal online price for a prevention programme. Contact us with the site details and we can discuss a one-off visit or arrange the information needed for a tailored quotation.
