Flea Treatment

Fleas can remain difficult to control when only the visible adults are dealt with. J Alvey Pest Control provides professional flea treatment for homes across our North West operating area. We assess the rooms involved, explain the preparation and aftercare, and use a treatment plan suited to the property. We are a family-run, BPCA-accredited business established in 1979.

When to arrange a flea visit

People often call after seeing small jumping insects, finding flea dirt around a pet’s resting area or noticing repeated bites. Bites alone are not enough to identify the pest, so include any sightings, affected rooms and pet information in the booking. If the evidence may point to another crawling insect, we can review the details before confirming the service.

Fleas can be found beyond the room where they were first noticed. Tell us where pets sleep, which rooms are carpeted or upholstered, and whether any part of the home will be inaccessible. This helps us confirm the scope and price.

How professional flea treatment works

The treatment focuses on the affected rooms and the places where flea activity is likely to persist. A professional insecticide may be applied to suitable areas after the property and occupancy have been assessed. We will tell you which spaces are included and what to expect afterwards.

Good preparation and aftercare are important because activity does not always stop the moment treatment is applied. The current household guidance asks occupants not to vacuum or mop treated areas for at least 10 days, preferably 14, so the residual treatment is not removed too soon. Instructions given for your particular visit take priority.

Preparation and safety

We will confirm the preparation required for the number of rooms and whether pets are present. Plan for residents, visitors and pets to stay out of treated areas until the product is dry; the current guidance gives approximately two hours. Once treatment has started, follow the technician’s written instructions and avoid disturbing treated surfaces. Product details and fuller precautions are available on our pest treatment safety information page.

Price and booking

Flea treatment is priced according to the number of rooms that need treating. Select the closest property option online and describe the affected rooms and pets. We will confirm the scope and price before attendance; we do not publish a room-by-room matrix here because the booking details need to match the property. Appointment requests are also checked against the route before confirmation.

Flea treatment FAQs

Should I treat my pet as well?

Tell us which pets are present. Pest treatment of the property does not replace veterinary advice or any pet treatment recommended by your vet.

Can I vacuum immediately after the visit?

Not on treated areas. Follow the instructions left for your visit; the current guidance says not to vacuum or mop those areas for at least 10 days, preferably 14.

What if I am unsure that the insect is a flea?
